A flanged ball valve achieves tight shut‑off with only a 90‑degree rotation and low operating torque.
The full‑bore inner cavity of valve body provides a straight flow path with minimum flow resistance for the medium.
Ball valves are generally applied for full‑open / full‑close service. With updated design, ball valves can also be used for throttling and flow control.
When the valve is in closed position, the ball is pressed against the seat by mechanical force from the stem.
When the handwheel is rotated counter‑clockwise, the stem moves in reverse direction. The angular flat surface at the bottom of stem lifts the ball away from valve seat to open the valve.
