With the rapid development of the natural gas industry, check valves, as important components ensuring the safe and stable operation of natural gas systems, have become increasingly prominent. Recently, a number of related technological innovations and application practices have further demonstrated the significance of check valves in the natural gas field.
The completion of the China-Russia Eastern Gas Pipeline project has attracted much attention in terms of long-distance natural gas pipelines. The 2"-32" Class600-900 axial flow check valves produced by a certain company have been applied to the key workstations of all diameters along the entire line of this project. This axial flow check valve can effectively prevent the backflow of natural gas and ensure the stable unidirectional flow of gas in the pipeline, providing a guarantee for the stable transportation of 38 billion cubic meters of natural gas to the three northeastern provinces, the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, the Yangtze River Delta and other areas every year. The realization of its localization has broken the foreign monopoly, reduced engineering costs, and also enhanced China's independent control ability in the field of natural gas transmission.
In liquefied natural gas (LNG) gas systems, check valves also play a crucial role. According to "GB/T 44851.3-2024 Components of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Gas Systems for Road Vehicles - Part 3: Check Valves", check valves must have reliable backflow blocking performance to prevent serious problems such as pressure imbalance and equipment damage caused by gas backflow, ensuring driving safety. At the same time, it can also stabilize the system pressure and help the gas system operate efficiently. The standard sets strict requirements for the materials, structural design, connection methods, etc. of check valves. For instance, the valve body is typically made of low-temperature alloy steel, and the sealing parts are made of low-temperature resistant rubber materials to adapt to the low-temperature and high-pressure working environment of the LNG gas system.
As the natural gas industry expands into broader fields and develops at a deeper level, the performance requirements for check valves will continue to increase. In the future, check valves will develop towards higher reliability, more precise control, and adaptability to more extreme working conditions, continuously safeguarding the safe and stable operation of the natural gas industry.
